How about:

miscmods.autosaveatstart off // the autosave feature is off unless
specified
miscmods.musicatstart off // the music from the jukebox is off when
loading or starting a new game

BTW, I just hate when the local autorities catch me bribing... Come on...
A good cheater don't want that! An option that gives automaticly the
outstanding rating with only one bribe, without a chance to be cought!
Buildings must be destroyded, mountains must be terraformed, trees must
be dynamited, that's the price of progrees... Greedy people make mistakes!

Just some opinions...

;)

Why? autostart doesn't do anything you don't want, does it?

Now THIS one I second! Actually, I had thought of this myself, and I just
sat down at my computer to write a message to that effect. So you were just
a couple of hours ahead of me.
I find the music in TTD very annoying, and I always turn it off, so it
would be great if I didn't have to turn it off every time I play the game.

I actually like that idea very much. So you can cheat, but not without a
risk. It's also quite realistic...

Actually you don´t need to. Just open the music box, set the volume to
zero, click "program" as if you´d were to change the titles list and
click "save" on that menu.

Voilà.

Imagine the agony that real tycoons have to go through! I thought about your
suggestion, but I believe it would be cool to have an option to *try* to bribe
the local investigator, after which he can do one of five things:
1. Accept the bribe and forego repercussions;
2. Accept the bribe and tell Tycoon to go screw him/herself;
3. Accept the bribe and tell the Map newspaper about Tycoon's bribing
behaviour;
4. Reject the bribe and pretend nothing happened but the other bribe;
5. Reject the bribe and tell the Map newspaper about Tycoon's bribing
behaviour;

In this case, #1 is the desired behaviour from the point of view of Tycoon.
Also, #3 and #5 would have map-wide influence when the story gets published.
Awesomely cool would it be if the newspaper would try to blackmail Tycoon for
not publishing the story and eventually Tycoon could actually go bankrupt
because of his/her arrogance.

Can be (relatively easily) done by hacking the TTD executable, if such
solution is acceptable to you. I'm sure I've posted the details to this
newsgroup a few years ago (search this newsgroup's Google archive for
"autosave").

A good cheater can always save the game before trying to cheat. :-P
